A short info about Anchor Text

A page that contains Anchor text determines the ranking that the page gets from the search engines. Anchor text is not only a name of this thing but it also it's can boost your sites rankings and grow more page views of your site if you use it correctly. It will also engage more visitors on your site from page to page.

The use of Anchor Text in the post is to give user's a relevant post about the topic that you write on your blog. For example, if I am writing a post on SEO, I should cover some topics in this post like Backlinks, Link Building, Content, etc. I gave the heading of Backlinks, after some info about the backlinks I attach the link to it of the page that I have written the detailed topic about the backlinks or you can say that a page on my or other sites relevant to the topic of Backlinks.

This is actually a use of Anchor Text.

As the Google says in their Google Penguin update (2012); The easiest way that Google understands the relevancy of the site, is to check the Anchor Text.

You should know what this Penguin update says

This 2012 Google Penguin update changed the way of link building forever.

Before the penguin update, the blogger's or website's owner's made the spammy links to rank their sites. Like if they want to rank some keyword like ' Beginner's Guide ' or post they created they use the link building technique to rank their keywords, that's good what they did now, but the problem creates when they use the one keywords ' Beginner's Guide ' on all of the post they created the link of ' Beginner's Guide ' keywords everywhere in their sites. 

They use 100% of their sites for one backlinks ' Beginner's Guide '. And they eventually get ranked.
They attached the link to this keyword and that high ranking in the Search Engine.

Well nowadays we can't use the full sites and every post to create a one backlinks ' Beginner's Guide '

So now Google releases the Penguin to analyzed the keywords and determined whether it would be penalized or not. 
 
The question rolling in your mind that how Penguin works and how it know whether it's spammy link or not. The one-word answer to this question is ' Anchor Text '. 

Stage Of Penguin Analyzation Process 

The Stages where Google Penguin determines to rank or penalized the site:

• The first stage when you created a backlink to your site. 
• The second step is done when the Google indexes your backlink in their Directory
• Google place your backlink in a specific area of their database and named it as your Link Profile. 

Now the step 1 to 3 are repeated over and over and collected all the backlinks of your site you created.

Now the actual things happen here when Google Penguin analyze all of the backlinks related to your site. Their algorithms analyze your link profile and compare it to your on-page optimization keywords. If all of your keywords of your on-page match with the anchor of your page sure you will get the penalty.

Because you want to rank a particular keyword ( Beginner's Guide ). Your method of link building is artificial. But don't worry we teaches you in the next paragraph how to use correct and anchor text. 

Types Of Anchor Text 
There are different classifications of anchor text that are used within the search engine optimization community such as the following:

Exact Match
An anchor that is used with a keyword that mirrors the page that is being linked to. Example: "search engine optimization" is an exact match anchor because it's linking to a page about "search engine optimization". 

Branded
A brand that is used as the anchor. "Become Tech" is a branded anchor text. It's the safest way of creating an anchor text

Naked Link

A URL that is used as an anchor. "www.becometech.net" is a naked link anchor. This is the bad example of anchor text.

Generic

A generic word or phrase that is used as the anchor. "Click here" is a generic anchor. Other variations may include "go here", "visit this website", etc. This will boost your seo ranking in the search engine. It may refer's to great type of building an anchor text

Images

Whenever an image is linked, Google will use the "ALT" tag as the anchor text

Summed Up

Before the release of Google Penguin Update, google didn't go the depth of backlink. They only see the site backlink indexes it and rank those site. They didn't check the anchor text. You can say that Anchor Text has no value at that time. But when Google released the Penguin Update, it changes the way of link building, it changes the way of creating backlinks, it teaches us how to use rich keywords, etc.

The introduction of Penguin updates destroy the spammer backlinks and keywords created by the users. But it also helps the other user which uses the backlinks in the correct manner.
